Funny how all the mistakes appears much more clearly now. But I do think, that I have improved from last time.

And the eyes.. they don't seem alive anymore after the scan, sigh.

Tumblr - for more art, sketches and so on

Fantastic...I have absolutely no idea how artists draw faces/people. So fair play for that. Really like the detail round the eyes that draw you in - so I wouldn't worry about that :) The effect of the hair also works well. Out of interest, how did you start off drawing? Do you have a focus point?

Auw, thank you! I really appreciated your comment (:
And answer to your question - I most start with a sketch, and then work at the parts I like best in the beginning. Which most of times happens to be the eyes.
But I can't focus on the same spot 'til it's done, I move on and get back later.

No worries - I'm gradually trying to get more involved after lurking on here for a while. So I hope it was useful

Cool, cheers - I never know where to start, I am trying to teach myself to draw in my spare time (so far progress is slow). I get tech drawing, but sketching for drawing people or scenes has always been a mystery. Being an engineer, its a quick sketch then on to AutoCAD (lazy, heheh).

Yeah.. You almost can't resist getting more involved, when you see all these talented people!. And it was very useful, it made my day, haha.

Don't think to much, just look at the thing you want to draw, and start. Look more at the object/picture than what's your hand is doing.
Oh you're an engineer, in for what, if I may ask? (:

Heheh, yeh you get drawn in after a while. And thanks :)

Fair do's - I'll try that, yeh normally I watch what I'm doing and get frustrated. I think that maybe a side effect of tech drawing though, you're taught to be exact and tbh not that flexible.

I'm a Materials Scientist/Engineer working in solar energy and catalysis for the moment - although that seems to change regularly, :)

Maybe, but I recognize the feeling.

Ah, cool.. Even though I'm not completely sure of what you're job includes, you must be one with a brain xD

Wow, just amazing. I loe all the detaling especially in the hair and eyebrows, it gives it a very realistic touch.
